Hoisin Sauce

Instructions:

  1. Mix Ingredients:
    • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, peanut butter (or black bean paste), honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, ground black pepper, and Chinese five-spice powder.
    • If you prefer a spicier hoisin sauce, add sriracha or your preferred hot sauce.
  2. Blend Until Smooth:
    • Whisk the ingredients together until you achieve a smooth and well-blended consistency.
    • If the sauce is too thick, you can thin it with a little water, adding a teaspoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. Taste and Adjust:
    • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning to your preference.
    • You can add more honey for sweetness, soy sauce for saltiness, or rice vinegar for tanginess.
  4. Store:
    • Transfer the hoisin sauce to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator.
    • It will keep for up to two weeks.
